Soar Athletics is proud to welcome Jen Bock to the SOAR Family! Jen will serve as director of Fast Pitch (Softball) Operations. Coach Jen not only brings her vast knowledge and leadership skills to the team, but also her already established Fast pitch program KC Phoenix. She will be working closely with our President, Robert Austin and together SOAR PHOENIX is born!
Coach Jen has a rich history within the game of softball. As early as age 4, she began begging her family to play the game she loves. Although her parents rebuked, telling stories of her siblings begging but then had to drag her to practice and games. She then made a promise to them that she would never quit softball, and she hasn't. From that moment on, there has not been a moment in her life without the game. Umpiring her summer months all through college, serving on the board of directors at one point even. As much as she loved playing, she's found an even greater love in coaching and fostering that passion in others.
Jen Bock is a graduate of Washington High School (still holds the record for ERA of 0.73) on the KS side of the Metro. She played collegiate ball at Johnson County Community College and then University of Missouri-KC where her primary position was pitcher where she held multiple all regional accolades, including a season with 0 errors.
She moved to the northland in 2002 and now has 12 years of coaching under her belt, often multiple teams at a time. She has experience coaching preschool through 18a (including 5 years at a Northland High School). She currently works for Fast pitch Masters (a company that hosts softball camps nationwide) as their Coaching Coordinator and a Camp Director.
Jen is passionate about the sport of softball and the life skills it builds in young ladies. Her focus is teaching kids to own their mistakes and work to improve them. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes of the fire, strong players grow from failing and learning. On the top of her quote list is Michael Jordan's "I fail and I fail and I fail, and that is why I succeed."
